The Official Swans Flag Crew
The Swans Flag Crew is Swansea City AFC's official pitch-side flag-waving crew .The crew varies in size but on match days includes 8 senior crew, up to 18 junior crew, and the crew manager.
Everyone on the crew is an unpaid volunteer, and the kit is donated by Swansea flagmaker MrFlag®.
The flag crew was devised in 2019 by then Chairman Trevor Birch, Catherine Thomas (Swans' Head of Hospitality), and Charles Ashburner (owner of MrFlag®). The crew is still going strong as a collaboration with Hayley Ford (Swans' Head of Supporter Services).
Senior Crew 18+
We have around 12 senior crew members covering 8 slots at each home game. Seniors organise and supervise the East Stand Flag Wall, and form the four corner crews. They then spend the duration of each game in their corner tunnels, ready to wave giant flags to celebrate each home team goal.
Senior crew earn a credit for each game they work. 15 credits can be cashed in for a reward from the club. Seniors receive a meal voucher from the club at each game
Junior Crew 14+
We have around 25 junior crew members, each competing for around 16 slots at home game. With the assistance of seniors, junior crew members form the East Stand Flag Wall display before kick-off. After kickoff they sit and enjoy the game in the crew seating area (pitchside, in West Stand South).
Junior crew get a free seat ticket for each game that they volunteer at. The club provides each junior with a voucher for a free hot or soft drink.
MrFlag®
Charles Ashburner (owner of MrFlag®) founded the crew, and organises and plans displays, including flags for special events like Snoop Dogg's visit in Feb 2026. MrFlag® makes and donates all flags and kit, and built the Swans Flag Crew app that is pivotal to crew registration and sign-ups.

Swansea City AFC
The flag crew is an official part of the Swansea City family, and comes under the supervision and guidance of Hayley Ford, Head of Supporter Services for the club. Hayley and Charles work closely together to provide this unique opportunity to the many fans who volunteer for this opportunity.

User Signup
When you sign up to use Swans Flag Crew, we collect the following information:

When creating or joining a team, we collect:

How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information to:
- Manage and facilitate user sign-ups and task assignments.
- Maintain and update user profiles.
- Allocate users to teams and tasks.
- Notify users of task sign-ups, approvals, and other relevant updates.
- Track task completions and award task credits.

Roles and Permissions
Owner
- Grant, edit, or remove roles.
- Edit user profiles.
- Have all other rights.
Admin
- Add, edit, or delete tasks.
- Add users.
- Approve user sign-ups.
- Assign or remove users from teams and tasks.
Users
- Sign up and apply for tasks.
- Drop tasks.
- Edit their own profile.
Observer
- View user names (no contact info).
- View game details and game sign-ups.
User Notifications
Users receive notifications via email and in-app alerts for the following:
- App sign-up approval.
- Changes to team membership.
- Task sign-up approvals.
- Assignments to or removals from tasks.
- Waiting list status and auto-allocations.
- Task, team-related, and global notices from the owner.
- Task Completion and Credits
On task completion, users are awarded credits based on their team. These credits are recorded on user profiles, reflecting tasks performed all-time and per season.
Sharing and Invitations
- Invitation Links: Can be emailed or copied and pasted by anyone.
- Task Invitations: Admins can send invitations to any user.
- Calendar Integration: Users can add task details to their personal calendars.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data from unauthorised access, use, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure.
